In serving the community as ohana, and providing car rental services with responsibility.

Good ole Lexi

“It was in my second semester at BYU-Hawai’i in 2017 when I was with my Brother and we bought an old 96 Lexus. We called her Lexi. Let’s just say Lexi was the begging of my rental journey…”

  • Zully here, story time!

In 2017 I began school at BYU-Hawai’i. That second semester my brother helped me purchase Lexi for $700. Best 700 dollars ever invested! Lexi took me on errands, appoints, work and adventures. She did so much for me and my friends.

As many other students being a college student was financially challenging. Renting out Lexi helped me fund my eduction and personal finances. That following summer, I worked to safe up for another car. The word of mouth spread and soon enough I was renting out a couple cars in 2018-2019. Fall of 2019 I graduated with a B.A in Art Education.

2020 came around and changed many things. Up to this point I managed a few cars. I did the cleaning, inspections, reservations and to be honest I have no idea how I ever managed to do all that, I worked a full time job at an art studio as manager, taught part time art classes online, lashed, and on top of that I was trying to live my best young life. IT WAS ALOT. 2020 was a year of reflection for many and myself. I was happy at moments, but truly struggled to feel motivated and excited about all that I was doing at that time of my life. When deciding what I should do I called my Brother, He was so honest about the situation I was in. He encouraged me to pursue my own dreams and goals and to focus on just making myself happy before others. I felt guilty for wanting to pursue my own dreams, but it’s exactly what I needed to do for myself.

In 2021 things changed and I quit my jobs. I continued lashing, but aside from that my art was put on the side and I fully focused on this project that I was so excited to build. I established Mahalo Car Share LLC. I partnered with my brother and we invested all we had at that time to make this work. I hired my first employees and began working with a team. Let me say that our Mahalo Ohana is what makes this vision go and it wouldn’t be POSSIBLE with out them. I’m so grateful for each person that has been in our journey!

When I say that it’s crazy to think that the things I was doing 10 years ago prepared me for what i’m doing today… it’s not crazy. What you are doing today this hour is so important. Take care of yourself, make memories, love deeply, serve those around you and you will be taken care of. I strongly believe that our lives are a result of the energy we put out so believe in good things to come when days are dark.

I am no where near were i’d want to be and Mahalo Car share has so much more growth to come, but I can say that i’m confident and happy in the direction my life has taught/taken me. Making a commitment to start a business that impacts this small but GREAT community i’m in is something I do not take lightly and I feel privileged to be able to have created something so amazing like Mahalo Car Share.

I know it’s our mission to continue to serve our community and take responsibility in our services.

And for all of you that made it to the end of this page, don’t you ever let anyone tell you you can’t do hard things. You just made it through a page of my ramble and grammar errors. YOU ARE AMAZING! Mahalo for supporting our Dreams!
